It is from Community, guys who wrote that article, you could have asked somebody on here and we would have told you.
Points for trying to describe it, but I wouldn’t really call it a Cheshire Cat smile.

Catelyn, we’re told, ranks 40th.
1. Catelyn’s the line item that’s attracting the most attention, and rightly so, frankly. A POV character, and a Stark, and a major player in a pivotal Season Three storyline, with fewer lines than Bronn? It’s a bummer, for sure, and I say that as someone who’s both disappointed with how that character has been translated from book to screen — by far the weakest of all the main characters — and who tends not to be disappointed for the same reasons that the Catelyn stans are.
Personally, I’d have liked the Stark/Tully/Riverlands storyline this season to use her, not Robb, as its central character. For one thing this would map more closely to how the books handled it, not that that’s something I tend to care about overmuch. Mainly, she’s simply a more sympathetic character right now than Robb — certainly than show-Robb. Her internal struggle is more interesting to me than his is.
Granted, if you look at her material during this segment of the series, much of what she does in her chapters is internal. She tends to think about a lot of stuff for almost the entire chapter, until the final paragraphs arrive and someone tells her that something important has happened. That’s difficult to turn into compelling television. But the show’s obviously capable of concocting plot to keep a character at the forefront if they want, and I wish they’d done so here if that’s what it would have taken.
2. Look at the gender breakdown for this list. Women occupy five slots in the top 10 most prominent characters, and a majority of the top 20. I doubt that most of the top-shelf TV drams have anything even close to this level of gender parity. The Good Wife, I suspect, and maybe The Americans, and mmmmmmmaybe Homeland simply by virtue of its female lead, but as a sheer numbers game I think Game of Thrones comes out on top. And compared to Breaking Bad or Boardwalk Empire or Mad Men (however well Mad Men handles its core female characters)? Forget about it. Actually I suppose Downton Abbey has it beat, but even so. When we’re talking about how the show treats its women characters, this bears attention, and frankly praise.
Yes yes, all of this. My thoughts pretty much exactly.
I just realized that “pun intended” is a pun on “unintended” and I’m literally about to gouge my eyes out I’m so angry
This. Changes. Everything.
teachers who complain about grading work
are you fucking kidding me.
no you sit the fuck down.
LET ME EXPLAIN YOU A THING
do you know how hard it is to be a teacher in the current economy? do you know what it’s like to frantically prepare students for standardized tests that contain literally nothing you feel like they need to learn but you have to ensure that they score well on them otherwise not only could you lose your job but also the school could lose funding
which means that funding for resources like
- subsidized lunches
- computers for the lab
- the fucking librarian’s fucking salary
could dry up?
do you know what it would be like to be hired expecting twenty children in a class but then half of your colleagues get fired so you suddenly have forty children in a class? and then if you’re an average middle or high school teacher you have five or six or sometimes seven classes?
yeah in case you can’t do math because you were too busy making fun of your teacher to pay attention, that’s 200 or 240 or fucking 280 students. and at least 75% of them turn in every assignment. and then you have to grade them, knowing that if you don’t assign x amount of papers your class could get audited and, unless you have tenure (which some teachers now don’t get until seven years after they have the job - that’s SEVEN FUCKING YEARS OF NOT KNOWING IF YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE A JOB THE FOLLOWING YEAR) you could lose your job if the administration doesn’t find your class adequate?
also, on top of grading papers, some districts require teacher regularly undergo retraining for students with disabilities, students with english as a second language, sexual assault counseling, bullying prevention, and community relations? and they’re supposed to do all of this on an average salary of $45,000 a year (which is only slightly more than one year of university, aka in order to pay for their undergrad student loans plus their grad school loans they would have to do nothing but pay down loans with their salaries for six fucking years and not buy food or shelter)?
also, side note: teachers do not ever “get the summer off.” they’re planning the shit out of the school year, and attending training days, and researching ways to make their teaching more effective, and handling panicking parents whose students will be entering their classes next year. “summer off” my ass. teachers work as hard during the summer as they do during the school year.
people on this website complain about being stressed out for a lot of things - some serious, some not.
but imagine the stress of having in your care the education of over two hundred people while paying off an astronomical debt to do an often thankless job
AND THEN GIVE ME SOME PISSANT MEME OF A CRYING GIRL YOU FUCKERS
stop telling your daughters that hair-pulling and teasing is a sign that “he likes you!”
a little boy picking on a little girl doesn’t meant that he likes her, it means he’s a little shit (⊙‿⊙✿)

because Universe Alterations would be a good name for when your characters are in the exact same universe but you’re altering just a couple of plot points or a few character traits
